Eat Like a Roman Local

Mama Mia! The food in Rome is absolutely delicious. They have mouthwatering cannolies with sweet chocolate  chips, homemade pasta, unique flavors of gelato, and thin pizza.

Cannolies are delectable little treats that you can find in bakeries. The sweet cannolies  have a crunchy fried wrap with sweet ricotta cheese and chocolate chunks. The petite bakery goods are made in Sicilia. There are many varieties.  For example, we saw some with fruit instead of chocolate.

In Italy, you'll find they make their pasta. They go through the long process with  care and shape them into neat shapes. You have the option to sit down and enjoy the  food for extra money, or you can get take away, also known as slow food, where they take care and  lovingly wrap it until it's perfect for you to take away. Some restaurants even sell pasta that you can just cook on  your own. If you go anywhere, even a flea market,  you'll probably find someone selling pasta. They have many different shapes, sizes, and  flavors. Even chocolate flavored!

It doesn't matter what restaurant you pass. Even if it's an American restaurant, you'll find pizza that will leave the sensation your taste buds dancing from the out of this word flavor of fresh basil or ripe tomatoes. In all different places in Italy, the pizza is different. In Rome there's thin crust, usually made on a tray with spices on it. In others, you can find a deep soft crust.

It's not surprising that so many people say Italy has the best gelato. They had about a century's head start from America and decades from France. As a result, they  have the creamiest, most delicious gelato.  Some of their most exotic flavors are tiramisu, rum raisin, cinnamon, lavender, rose, and coconut. They even have refreshing, fresh, fruity sorbets that will make you scrape at the bottom of the cup.
