Easter Candy, Easter Bells, Holy Week, Easter Day

While you probably know Easter was this past Sunday, you may not know how Easter is celebrated around the world. Here people attend mass and many locals go away from Barcelona to a different part of Spain. Some people will go to Valladolid where they have a procession with very unbelievably large floats.  Americans and Spaniards both happily devour some delicious chocolate on Easter. Here godfathers nicely give their godchildren who are twelve and under a chocolate cake that the godchildren share with their families Easter Monday.
In France children don't have the Easter Bunny, but instead believe that bells fly through the sky to Rome and back and on their way drop chocolate eggs in their yards. The bells don't ring the three days before Easter, so when they ring Easter morning the children excitedly run outside and search for their candy knowing that the bells have returned.
We gladly went to mass in Notre Dame Cathedral palm Sunday where outside there were donkeys that the priest rode in on and palms (which look different than palms in the United States) being sold. The church was incredibly large and the most lovely church anyone in my family has ever stepped into. The outside of the church had  such a numerously large details that when I saw people drawing the Notre Dame Cathedral I thought "it's impossible to capture every gargoyle, person, and face on this building onto one piece of paper." This church absolutely looks like a piece of art from a museum to me.

Easter day my family got chocolate (which you might know if you read Olivia's post) and had an absolutely delicious brunch. On Easter here since the locals go away, there isn't much to do so it became a bit of a normal day in the afternoon. We did some work, went on a jog, my brother went to the park, but I had a good Easter and I hope everyone, no matter how you celebrated it, had a fun day.
