This Sunday we went to Chinatown in London to celebrate Chinese New Year, which was on Monday the 23rd, however it is celebrated in Chinatown the first Sunday after the day of Chinese New Year. While it was fun it was also very busy! They had a stage that people were dancing on, food booths, people singing, games, souvenir booths, and fireworks at the end of the day. This year was the year of the dragon, which is the year my sister Olivia was born in and she was happy about that. The souvenir shops had a lot of dragon toys and dragon decorations were hung up all around Chinatown. We tried moon cakes, which are Chinese New Year desserts. Although they were too sweet for me my sister (Olivia) and mom liked them a lot. Going to Chinatown on Chinese New Year is something fun for the whole family, but if you have a big family keep making sure everyone is with you because there are huge crowds!

Hi Cassandra,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your article about the Chinese New Year celebration. What did Nolan think about all the dragons and the noise? Did he like it or was he frightened?
I found your post about the painting you chose to write about very interesting. It must have been fun to see a painting that was done in a style that you not only had studied but had liked! I hope you get to see lots of great stuff on your travels.

DeleteHello Mrs. LaMattina,
DeleteThank you! The paintings all over the National Gallery in London were great and fun to see so it was hard to choose one thing to write about. The Chinese New year celebration was also very fun! Nolan liked the dragons at the Chinese New Year celebration, however, he hates loud noises and fireworks!
